Tremanskärri's magnificent marsh and nature trail can be found in northern Espoo, right next to Lake Kalajärvi. Walking along the long trees in the bog, you feel as if you are somewhere else than the Helsinki metropolitan area.

The nature trails start along Vihdintie. First you walk along the Kalajärvi fitness track, which then leads to the nature trail.

At the crossroads, you have to be careful to get where you want to go.

From the nature trail, a longwood path branches off to Tremanskärri marsh, which is a very beautiful place. That's what I was here for, the other trails were just a nice bonus.

With a few exceptions, the paths are in excellent condition.

The name Tremanskärr is said to date back to the 1700s. During the Great War, three Russians either took shortcuts or fled across the swamp, never making it to the other side. Hence the name, Three Men Swamp in english,

The southern edge of the swamp is just over 50 metres from the centre of Kalajärvi. The swamp is the most easily accessible area, and buses can also get you right next to it.

This route crossed the Tremanskarri marsh from north-west to south-east. There are some hills and paths on the south-eastern slope until you reach the fitness track again.
