The Swimming Places of Espoo: Jupperi's "surfing beach"
In Jupperi, on the shore of Pitkäjärvi, there is a swimming spot called Surf Beach. It offers a pier, grass to lounge on, and a small parking area. In winter, you can enjoy ice swimming here.
The Beaches of Espoo: Ruuhijärvi's western side
Nuuksio is amazing, but it can sometimes be difficult to find a spot where you can swim easily. One great place is on the southern shore of Ruuhijärvi. You can swim in the clear lake from this spot popular with scouts.

In Nuuksio, on the eastern shore at the end of Ruuhijärvi, there is a small natural sandy beach. The evening sun hits the beach beautifully. The water in Ruuhijärvi is often very clean, and at this shallow sandy beach, it is also warm.

Vilniemi Beach is located in central Espoo on the western shore of Lippajärvi, in the Lippajärvi district. A small but well-maintained sandy beach deepens gradually. On the other side of the shore, you can see Lippajärvi Beach.

Espoo's Kolmperä has a nice, small swimming spot. The water is clear, and there's a bit of sandy bottom next to the pier.

Welcome to the Espoo archipelago. Rövaren is a recreational island managed by the city of Espoo, located less than five kilometers south of Soukanniemi. The island is popular, and for good reason: you can reach it by archipelago boat in the summer, and it has grill huts, firewood, and even a beach.

Espoo's outdoor islands: Iso and Pieni Lehtisaari plus Sumparen
This begins a new series: over the coming years, I will introduce all the islands in Espoo that can be visited. First up is a trio of islands: Iso and Pieni Lehtisaari, and Sumparen. Let's start our exploration with Sumparen, as it has one of the finest spots in Espoo. Initially, a view to the northeast. Notice the Tuomela boatyard, where boats were built until the 1960s (now private property).
Viewpoints in Espoo: Laajalahti Birdwatching Tower
The Villa Elfvik nature tower is located in Laajalahti, in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve. This picture shows the unique feature of the birdwatching tower: both the path to the tower and the access to the lowest platform are accessible.
Viewpoints in Espoo: Lähderanta
One of the most surprising viewpoints in Espoo can be found in Lähderanta, near the Laaksolahti sports park. The cliff top offers stunning views of Pitkäjärvi, and as a bonus, the ruins of the Dalsvik Manor gazebo can be found at the top of the hill.

One of the finest viewpoints in Espoo can be found in the middle of Leppävaara. Laturinkallio offers stunning views, especially to the south towards Sello and the towers.
Viewpoints in Espoo: Jäniskallio in Nuuksio
A somewhat surprising viewpoint in Espoo can be found on the shore of Nuuksion Pitkäjärvi. On the west side of the lake is Jäniskallio. The hill doesn't seem very high when you climb it, but you reach a surprisingly high point, and the views are quite impressive.

One of the finest viewpoints in Espoo can be found in Nuuksio. Along the accessible Maahisenkierros route, there is an observation deck offering great views.
Viewpoints in Espoo: Ryssänkallio
One of the biggest surprises among the viewpoints in Espoo for me has been Ryssänkallio. Of course, I knew about the Ryssänkallio-Isosuo nature reserve, but I hadn't realized that the cliffs also offer decent views.
Viewpoints in Espoo: Stora Herrö observation tower
Welcome to one of the finest places in Espoo. The Stora Herrö lookout tower offers stunning views. The tower is situated on a rock, and the scenery opens up in nearly all directions. Stora Herrö can be reached by archipelago boat in the summer. Here is a picture of the tower looking almost directly northeast. In the foreground on the right is Rövargrundet.
Viewpoints in Espoo: Hyppykallio in Nuuksio
Hyppykallio is a high cliff and viewpoint in Nuuksio, right along Nuuksiontie. In english the name would be "Jumphill". The views also open up to Nuuksion Pitkäjärvi. You can also reach a spot half a kilometer away by bus.

Viewpoints in Espoo: Kimlahti viewpoint
One magnificent viewpoint in Espoo can be found deep in the recesses of Suinonsalmi. When you travel as far east as you can along Matasaarentie, right next to Suvisaaristo, you will find great views to the north from the cliffs.

Kivenlahti coastal cliffs are one of the finest places, if not in the world, then at least in Espoo. The cliffs offer a great spot to admire the scenery.

The Bergö Bird Tower is located in Suvisaaristo on top of a high cliff. The tower offers views far out to the sea.
Viewpoints in Espoo: Kasavuori in Soukka
One of the finest viewpoints in Espoo can be found at Soukka's Kasavuori. The views are impressive in every direction. This photo faces north, with Laurinlahti in the foreground and Kivenlahti in the background.
The Beaches of Hanko: Lappohja
Hangonniemi has many amazing beaches. One of them is Lappohjanranta located in Lappohja. This natural beach is probably a kilometer long.

Bellevue Beach is a long and idyllic beach in Hanko. The beach is shallow and peaceful.

Casinon ranta (Casino Beach) is located in Hanko, right next to the town center. The beach is small with a historical atmosphere.

Regattanranta Beach is located right in the center of Hanko, just like almost all other beaches in Hanko. The beach has a Mediterranean atmosphere.
The Beaches of Hanko: Silversand
The beautiful beach of Silversand is located on the northern shore of Hangonniemi. Silversand is also known as Hopealahti. It was a hot day.
The Beaches of Hanko: Märsan
Märsan Beach is located on the north side of Hangonniemi. The water here deepens faster than at other beaches in Hanko, which is why Märsan has the only diving tower among Hanko's beaches.
The Beaches of Hanko: Slaktis
Slaktis Beach, also known as the northern beach of Tulliniemi, is a popular beach located near the tip of Hangonniemi. Though popular, it was quiet when I visited.
