The Beaches of Kirkkonummi: Syväjärvi
Syväjärvi beach is located just a couple of kilometers south of Kirkkonummi's center and is considered to be the most popular beach in Kirkkonummi. Although Syväjärvi is a small lake, as its name suggests, it is also deep.
The beach has two piers. Between them, children can splash around relatively safely, but keep in mind that about ten meters from the shore, an adult's feet might no longer touch the bottom.
For drivers from South Espoo, this beach is very close. For example, it’s a 15-minute drive from the Martinsilta junction in Espoonlahti.
Next to the beach, there are large grassy areas.
Here’s the same view taken from the edge of the parking lot.
There are also a couple of beach volleyball courts. You can also find shade under those trees if the sun gets too hot.
In the summer of 2021, there was an ice cream kiosk and SUP board rental available at the beach.
The parking lot has plenty of space. On the left, there’s a changing cabin building. There’s space to change clothes, but there are no showers.
Syväjärvi Beach Information
- Address: Upininiementie 240, Kirkkonummi.
- Facilities: Changing cabins, beach volleyball courts, small playground, piers, ice cream kiosk, and SUP board rental in summer 2021.
- Tips for swimmers: It’s a small lake but deepens quickly. Often there is blue-green algae in late summer, so check the situation before swimming. The beach faces southeast, but as it’s an open area, the evening sun also warms it up.
