The Beaches of Helsinki: Marjaniemi
Marjaniemi beach is located in eastern Helsinki. The district is, as I understand it, Vartiokylä, practically Itäkeskus to the north and Roihuvuori to the west. But to the point: a fine beach with a Mediterranean atmosphere.
The beach is quite long. Here is a small "secondary beach" found to the left of the pier.
The changing rooms are neat and "appropriate." There is also a shower. The steep embankment and the houses on the hill bring to mind the Votsalakia beach in Piraeus. The difference being that everything in Athens was ten times bigger, and there was an outdoor pool at the beach as a bonus.
Behind are impressive beach cliffs.
... which are nice to lounge on.
