The Beaches of Vantaa: Vetokannas

Vetokannas beach can be found in Kaivoksela, Vantaa. The former sand pit has been restored into a beach that is in many ways one of the finest in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

Vetokankaa has both a shallow beach suitable for children, as well as very quickly deepening areas for slightly larger swimmers.

It is actually more than one beach, as there are different beaches in different parts of the sandpit.

There are also lawns to sit on and a playground for children. These photos are from the summer of 2012 (with minor, later additions), when the beach had just opened, for example the beach has been extended since then.
