Espoo's outdoor islands: Iso Vasikkasaari
Iso Vasikkasaari is located just outside Matinkylä in Espoo. This charming outdoor island can be reached by archipelago boat. Iso Vasikkasaari covers 24 hectares and is primarily used for outdoor activities. The island is ideal for day trips, and overnight stays are prohibited.
There were plenty of other visitors as well.
The shoreline path occasionally runs right along the shore.
The southern shore features two small beaches and offers stunning views.
To the south, the first islands you encounter are Iso and Pieni Pukkisaari.
In the middle of the island, you'll find an observation tower with fantastic views.
The Keilaniemi towers can be seen in the distance, looking roughly northeast. The island in the foreground is Varsasaari, which features a beautiful beach.
Iso Vasikkasaari, like many places in Espoo, also has cliffs and pine forests.
The facilities are excellent. The island has several grill shelters.
Now let's visit the northwest corner. You can access the shore here, and the facilities are perfect for those arriving by boat.
In the center of the island, quite close to the boat docks, there is a large lawn area, grill shelters, and a beach in the cove directly ahead. The facilities are excellent, especially for families with children. Highly recommended.
Here is a photo of the beach. More information about the island's three beaches can be found here.
The island also features Gula Villan, a former fishing estate that is now a restaurant. There is a separate photo series of Gula Villan on this site.
