Hiking trails of Helsinki Region: Kalkkikallio and Kalkkikallio nature trail, Vantaa

Kalkkikallio is a very fine rocky area in Kuninkaalan, Vantaa. From Kalkkikallio, you can also enjoy impressive views.

Kalkkikallio stands 65 meters tall. You can probably guess what kind of rock formation is found here.

Malmi Airport is nearby.

Here is the view roughly to the southwest.

The metal spikes likely point to a triangulation tower. There may have also been an air surveillance tower here during the war. I'll dig into this when I have time.

It’s beautiful.

There are sheltered crevices under the boulders.

On the southern slope, next to the path leading up, there is a small cave. A nimble child under ten could disappear in there in an instant.

There is a nature trail on the northern side of the hilltop.

How to Get There?

You can reach a spot less than a kilometer away by several buses. The Puistola train station is just over one and a half kilometers away. By the way, Vantaa's Ikea is less than a kilometer away.

There is no designated parking lot (as far as I know) for the Kalkkikallio outdoor area. It is possible to leave a few cars along Kalkkivuorentie, and there are other places in the nearby area where you can park.
