The Beaches of Inkoo: Koivuniemi
The fine Koivuniemi beach is located close to the center of Inkoo. This well-equipped beach is one of the so-called EU beaches, which are popular public beaches.
These photos are from August 7, 2020. It was a hot Friday, and I happened to be on vacation. Therefore, the beach was not as crowded as the thermometer might have suggested. The photos already convey a slight feeling of the departing summer and melancholy, even though it wasn't the last hot day of the summer.
The beach, located on the seashore, deepens slowly, making it very suitable for young children.
The beach is also known by its Swedish name, Björkudden. Since the municipality of Inkoo calls it Koivuniemi, that's what I'll call it too.
Charming changing booths.
Right next to the beach is an old pier.
And lovely rocks. In the background, less than a kilometer away, is Inkoo harbor.
You reach the beach via a somewhat fairytale-like path.
Information about Koivuniemi beach
- Address: Koivuniementie 38, Inkoo.
- Services: Changing booths, outhouse (I didn't see it, but it's there), pier, beach volleyball court, playground for children.
- Tips for swimmers: Shallow beach, suitable for children. It opens roughly to the southeast, so the evening sun is behind the forest. However, the beach is open enough that the sun shines on the piers all day.
